Our weekly list of LA music that you'll want to hear:
DUCKWRTH - MICHUUL
This is an artist that probably should’ve been on SLAP a long time ago, but better late than never. His high energy, soulful tracks kind of resemble Anderson .Paak, but make no mistake; there is nobody making music quite like this. His newest song is a funky ballad to a girl he badly wants. We love it. Listen below:
Deffie - Bands feat. Dreamchild and Leroy Menace
Deffie is the producer of this track, and it’s his beat that makes us fuck with this song so much. Dreamchild and Leroy Menace provide meaningful lyrics and quality vocals with their combination of singing and rapping. This isn’t just another song about money. Listen below:
Fred Blaze - Everybody (remix) feat. Phonk P, Mosaicc and G Perico
Fred Blaze and Phonk P have a ton of bangers together already. This time they link with Mosaicc and G Perico, an LA rapper who’s been gaining a ton of steam lately. It’s a catchy track with hard verses from everyone on it. Listen below:
Rucci - Go Rucci
This Inglewood artist knows how to make a club banger, and he continues that trend on ‘Go Rucci.’ Whether you’re in the streets or on the sidelines, this one is a slapper for sure. Rucci delivers a gangbanger’s story in a way that anyone can vibe to. Listen below:
Alia Zin - Growth (prod. P-Soul)
This female MC hadn’t dropped a track in a few months, but 20 days ago she returned with a song letting everyone know how much she’s grown. She’s come a long way and we’re excited to see what she follows up her last album WICCAN with. Listen below:
Oddly Shrugs - OFFWITHHERHEAD (video) prod. SWVDE
Oddly Shrugs is a character that we like watching. His aesthetic is crazy in this video and the song is a banger if you’re into the bass-boosted, lo-fi kind of hip hop that has seen a recent surge in popularity. Cameron Park does a nice job of shooting and editing this one. Watch below:
Jamez London - RACK$ ft. Reed Washington (prod. Kid Jimi)
This song is only one day old, and we can’t stop slapping it. It’s got everything you want from a hip hop song today: melodic autotune use, bar-filled verses and a chorus that’ll be stuck in your head all day. Jamez London is an artist who needs some more shine. Listen below:
Kxllswxtch - Heartbreak </3 (prod. CaptainCrunch x KillBigHead)
This Anaheim-based artist does a nice job of vibing on this rare CaptainCrunch x KillBigHead beat. His melodies are on point and the beat is too fire to not slap. Listen below:
