Rucci - Dawgystyle (mixtape) & Who Can I Run 2 (video)
Rucci has been building a ton of hype for his new mixtape Dawgystyle, and it only takes one listen to understand why fans were so excited.
The 12-track tape is relentlessly hard from start to finish, with bangers produced by a slew of local producers including Larry Jayy, Omni, Jaycee Beats, LewisYouNasty, Jooseppi, Radioaktive & Cypress Moreno. The small but memorable feature list consists of G Perico, KingRikoX, 1TakeJay & 1TakeQuan.
Rucci took a gamble by adopting Snoop Dogg's iconic Doggystyle cover art - but it's safe to say that the Inglewood native embodies Snoop's gangsta rap vibe while repackaging it with a new school sense of aggression and animosity.The intro track 'RuccDawg' may be the project's dopest cut, with Rucci's hyperactive flow being offset by the mellow chorus sung by him & KingRikoX. But then there's also classic, West Coast style heaters like 'Shoot N*ggaz' & 'Come & See About It' where Rucci shows off his underrated lyricism and overall control on tracks.
Dawgystyle is a slappin' project to close out 2017, and it sets the bar high for Rucci heading into next year. In addition to the mixtape, Rucci dropped a video to one of his hottest songs, 'Who Can I Run 2.' It's directed by Real Movie, and it's arguably the hardest visual we've seen from Rucci yet.
