Del Amo's Very Own Jayson Cash's 'Affiliated'. 16 Tracks. 40 minutes.
This is exactly the direction that one should head to if seeking THE Los Angeles West Coast Sound that changed and shifted the game forever. 'Affiliated' encapsulates a wide array of styles and flow giving the track list a good mix and balance.
In the opening track, Yeah Yeah, Cash comes out the gates swinging as a weaves metaphorical soliloquies backed behind by crazy strong trumpets that paint this cinematic follow-along of the main character.
Both Cash and featured emcee PutYaHeartInIt keep the pace of building energy, coasting at the last bar until the breakdown. The follow up track 'Call Out' is one of the several stand out records on this LP. The rapper empathizes and speaks on the modern reality of creatives: the fine line between going hard for the passion and grinding to live. The ultimate dream of making a living off talent and hustle instead of wages paid by standards.
Track 6 'Drake and Drive' is a sample driven slow jam featuring the velvety vocals from the singer Blast. Cash exercises his lingual prowess with a woman who is spoken for who has him enamored, laying out the details of their next rendezvous. If it wasn't for what I proclaim to be the lead single on this project, I would say D&D is too short but thankfully Cash is meticulous. Track 7 'Moscato Sangria' is definitely in TOP 3 records off this project. Jayson takes us on a 100% Mack verified trip as he reminisces his Carlo Rossi vice and shows off his versatility as he covers the full spectrum and styles of what we know to be West Coast G-Funk.
The lengthy, yet much appreciated list of features also includes SECOND, K. Reasons, Frontliiiin, Leswood & a surprising but very memorable contribution from local legend Suga Free. Other Standout records in no particular order, Road Less Traveled, Street Gospel, Gangsta Party, ICTIO, and Royal Flush. This LP is a clean play-through that will keep heads nodding the entire time and have you running back certain tracks more than a few times as you play through it.Coming off of his 2016 Project 'One Of These Mornings' Jayson cash is definitely on track to immortalize Carson Del Amo, along with Ab-soul, in hip-hop history.
As we wait to get with Cash and see what his next move is, check out the 2018 Jayson Cash masterpiece, 'Affiliated'. InCrowd up.
