Jag is back on SLAP with one of the most powerful records you'll hear. Hip hop has become a platform for many to sound off on social justice issues around the country, but this may be the most spot-on, moving song we've heard that tackles the issue of police brutality. 'Kaepernick Effect' calls out police and speaks from the position of people of color and their experiences with cops. There's hardly a bass line; mainly keys, synths and saxophone: that bare minimums allowing Jag to be the song's sole focus. His narrative is as honest as it is chilling. You can hear every ounce of emotion in his voice.
