#YoThisSlaps no. 4

SLAP's weekly list of LA music you'll be happy we found:

JINXZ - More To Gain Ft. 2k West

In 2017 your ability to ride a track can matter just as much as what you’re saying. JINXZ is a rapper/producer out of Compton who would probably sound sick saying anything. He links with 2k West for this addicting song that seems to sound better every time we listen to it.

also on Apple Music and Spotify:

ravenna golden - Half Past Ten ft. Pritty (Prod. Yung Skrrt)

Ravenna Golden is another LA-based artist who has a voice and flow that you want to keep listening to. She’s something of an autotune experimentalist, and she absolutely nails it in this song featuring Pritty. Listen below:

Ka5sh - I’m Depressed (Video)

Ka5sh is an artist from North Carolina currently living in LA. His most recent video has been been generating quite a bit of buzz; the track was featured on Pitchfork earlier this month. It’s a unique song with an abstract video to match it. Somehow he pulls off a happy, light-hearted song about being depressed. Props.

Ashton McCreight

An artist doesn’t have to provide the vocals to make a great song, and Ashton McCreight is the perfect example. This producer makes all kinds of remixes and instrumentals, and he releases quality music all the time. Check out his take on Kanye and Luther Vandross below, and stay on the lookout for more heat.

AjAY - The Warm Up

AjAY has ties to both Chicago and LA, and you can hear both cities on this track. His aggressive tone and subject matter on ‘The Warm Up’ scream Chicago but his flow leans a little more West Coast. It’s a dope combo that you’re not really getting anywhere else. Listen below:

SUBLU - Freak prod. JHAWK

This Long Beach based pop singer has an electrifying voice and the ability to make an extremely catchy song. She teams up with JHAWK, whose name you may recognize from many popular jerking songs back in the day by YG and others. SUBLU sounds like she should be on the radio already. Check her out before she gets there:

KAYNIAN - WHERE I COME 4RM

KAYNIAN is one of the rawest talents we’ve stumbled upon recently. He’s a rapper/producer from DC who’s been living in LA for about 2 years. He’s got a ton of potential with a style that compares a bit to Kid Cudi with his combination of unique production and captivating melodies. Listen below:

Curtis Heron and Fifty Grand - Water Glance

Curtis Heron is a talented producer out of Long Beach representing teamsesh. He's worked with Bones a number of times, but this time he links with singer Fifty Grand for a relaxing song with some of the nicest harmonies you'll ever hear. Listen below:

Tripp Jones x Redd - Self Reflection prod. NEDARB

Neither of these rappers are from out here, but this track was just released today on LA-based producer Nedarb Nagrom’s Soundcloud. Ned has got to be one of the hardest working producers in the game right now. This spacey tune is one of many solid tracks he’s been a part of recently.
