DC The Don - New Wave (prod. Dunnaveli)
You might recognize this Chino Hills artist/hooper's name from his friendship with the Lakers new point guard, Lonzo Ball. He actually just got a birthday shoutout from the 2nd overall pick, so happy bday! He celebrated by dropping this banger, and as the title implies, it’s on that ‘New Wave.’ With a catchy guitar riff, entrancing melodies and harmonious autotune; it’s the type of track to end up stuck in your head for days. Plus, he may be the first rapper to talk about wearing Lonzo’s $495 shoes—the Big Baller Brand ZO2s. Listen below:
Lil Aaron - Warped Tour (prod. Nedarb)
First off, let us say that Paramore’s ‘Misery Business’ is one of the sickest songs ever, so it took all of 3 seconds for us to fall in love with this track. Nedarb is one of our favorite LA-based producers right now and an absolute genius for the sample. Indiana native (now living in LA) Lil Aaron delivers with some super catchy vocals. What’s even better is the fact that his hook talks about NOT doing xanax all day everyday. Hooray! Listen below:
@anjunalife - Tical
Whether you’re about to fall asleep or your day is just getting started, this track hits the spot. With its unorthodox bassline and warped vocal samples, ‘Tical’ is a dance track that we keep wanting to run back. Listen below:
King RickyyC - Brag ft. RonnieBambu
This one’s a little old for this week’s list, but we stumbled across it and felt like it needed some more shine. KingRickyyC produces the track and links with RonnieBambu, a rapper/producer out of Compton. They two make an ideal team, showing off their solid yet different uses of autotune. Listen below:
Lil House Phone - Gold Plated ft. Nolanberollin (prod. 420tiesto)
If you’re into funny songs that bang, you need to be in to Lil House Phone. His style of rap is like trolling on beats at times, but it’s always hilarious. ‘Gold Plated’ jewelry isn’t your typical theme for a rap song, so kudos to him for staying original with this one. He teams up with Virginia-based rapper Nolanberollin on a thunderous, bongo drum filled beat from 420tiesto. Listen below:
Yung Skrrt - Cannibal (prod. Skrrt)
Holy crap... This is a crazy track. Yung Skrrt is an ultra-versatile producer, but we didn’t see this one coming at all. It’s got a fast-paced, electronic beat coupled with some awesome synths and thumping 808s. It’s definitely an experimental track, but Skrrt manages to pull it off perfectly. Listen below:
Kleinbomb - It’s On Me (prod. ShodaMeyer)
This 19-year-old singer/rapper out of Huntington Beach knows how to lay down a dope chorus. This one is exceptionally nice, perfectly pairing with a summery-sounding beat from ShodaMeyer. This is the kind of music that’d be on the radio if stations weren’t so busy playing weak shit. Listen below:
Nate Savage - SPAZZMATIC (prod. AD Cinco)
It’s not always easy to make a good song with a made-up word in the chorus, but don’t tell that to Nate Savage. His chilled-out flow and voice make for an easy listen and a track worth adding to your rotation. Listen below:
Aneu - Serenade
This artist out of Hawthorne has only been releasing music for a couple of days and just hit double digit SoundCloud followers after we subscribed. But holy shit, he is tight. All of his songs are self-produced - this one has trippy guitar riffs, drums and some piano that complements the hook really well. This sounds like music that might’ve been released 40+ years ago, only it came out yesterday. Listen below:
