Another week, another edition of #YoThisSlaps. SLAP Media's weekly deep dive into SoundCloud & beyond, bringing you eight songs from LA artists that you need to hear.
Desto Dubb & Fa$tlife - Rich Bitch (prod. fizzle)
LA’s Desto Dubb and Fa$tlife come together on ‘Rich Bitch’ to make an extremely catchy, uptempo track over a unique beat provided by fizzle.. Their chemistry is comparable to Famous Dex & Rich The Kid, but with a new wave West Coast spin. We’re rockin’ with this one. Listen below:
TSwish x Spiffie Luciano - Triccy (prod. AceTheFace)
One of LA’s hottest up and comers, Spiffie Luciano, is back with a collab with South Central rapper TSwish. The two link up on a slappin’ west coast beat provided by AceTheFace, and they both do their thing on it. ‘Triccy’ is a new wave function song that’ll be ringing in your head all day after hearing it. Listen below:
PedroFlexin - The Race feat. CHXPO & NEL$ON
It takes some guts to make another song called ‘The Race’ after Tay-K had massive success with his, but these three artists came together to make a completely different kind of banger with the same title. LA based rapper/producer PedroFlexin ripped his verse & produced the track; it’s one of the hottest cuts from his new project Flexin With Friends. Listen below:
Hana Katana - I Don’t Miss U (prod. Elvis)
Hana Katana’s SoundCloud bio reads “I'm that bitch with the pink hair who writes poetry and then sings it,” and she isn’t lying when she says that. This song is a lyrical, conceptual work of art about losing feelings, with soft vocals and enticing melodies to tie it all together. It’s the only song on her SoundCloud as of right now, so we can’t wait to hear more.
swvde. - FUCK YOU
This self produced banger only clocks in @ 1:39, but that’s all the time swvde. needs to create a high-energy song that simply doesn’t get old to listen to. Not sure what’s better here, the thunderous beat or the intense delivery swvde uses on ‘FUCK YOU.’ Either way, it’s a track you need to hear. Listen below:
Jay Ward - Cut That Off feat. Rucci (prod. 15HUNNITBOY)
Leimert Park’s Jay Ward is an artist that flies below the radar, and he hadn’t dropped music in a year before releasing his newest tape Stepping Stones. A feature from Rucci on ‘Cut That Off’ makes the song a standout, but that’s because of efforts from both of these talented MC’s. It’s an emotional song, but still on some G-shit. Jay Ward has a diverse skillset, making him an artist to look out for in 2018. Listen below:
Nate Klizzy x Moony - That’s The Thing (prod. HeartBreak)
Huntington Beach artists Nate Klizzy & Moony collabbed this week to give us their new single ‘That’s The Thing’ and it’s pretty fucking dope. The two autotune users have mastered their respective sounds, and combine solid lyrics with catchy melodies over an eclectic beat from HeartBreak. Listen below:
Bobby Bucher x Chase Moore - Roses
This cut comes off of Bobby Bucher and Chase Moore’s collaborative project titled Chopper Read. The two have very different skillsets, but compliment each other like Pippen & Jordan when they hop on the beats that Chase Moore cooks up. ‘Roses’ is on the mellow side, but the tape has tracks ranging all over the musical spectrum. Listen below:
That's it for this week. Tune in next week for another rundown of LA music that you need to hear, but probably haven't yet. Send music via Instagram or Twitter DM @SLAPmediaLA or via email @ slapmediala@gmail.com.
